Muhammad Ali was born in January 17,1942. His birth place is Louisville, Kentucky, USA. His birth name is Cassius Marcellus Clay jr. His name now is Muhammad Ali.



Who Was Muhammad Ali?

Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Clay) was a boxer, philanthropist and social activist who is universally regarded as one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century. Ali became an Olympic gold medalist in 1960 and the world heavyweight boxing champion in 1964. Following his suspension for refusing military service, Ali reclaimed the heavyweight title two more times during the 1970s, winning famed bouts against Joe Frazier and George Foreman along the way. Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984, Ali devoted much of his time to philanthropy, earning the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. Ali died on June 3, 2016.

Muhammad Ali honored Islam and often helped finance many orphanages and hospitals in Islamic countries who suffer from constant wars.

Ali refused to go to Vietnam war. He didn’t go to war because his Islam group was against violence. In May 1967,the World Boxing Association took away his boxing license and his title. He went to the prison for 5 years.

During the Gulf War in Iraq, Ali met with Saddam Hussein and helped to get 15 U.S hostages released.

Ali was named the Sports Illustrated Athlete of the century for more than just his boxing skills. He transcended the sports world and inspired people to stand up for social change. His courage made him an important figure in history. Ali has been a leader in the fight against Parkinson’s disease for many years. He had raised awareness about the disease and has raised a lot of money for Parkinson’s research.
